High Volume Servers

Top  Previous  Next

If you are running a high volume installation, there are certain settings we recommend you change or add to increase performance.

1. Disable DEP. Add to boot.ini "/NoExecute=AlwaysOff".

2. Windows TCP/IP registry settings recommendations:

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\MaxHashTableSize = 65536 (DWORD)

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\TcpTimedWaitDelay = 30 (DWORD)

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\MaxUserPort = 65534 (DWORD) *

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\TcpNumConnections, 16777214 (DWORD)

* Important note: If you are running MS DNS server on the same computer as Alligate, you will need to not set the MaxUserPort value, and if it already exists, you will need to delete it entirely. This is required because of a Microsoft security update released on July 25, 2008. Click here for more information from Microsoft.

3. Alligate registry settings recommendations:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\SolidOak\Alligate\Settings\MaxClients = 0 (DWORD)

HKLM\SOFTWARE\SolidOak\Alligate\Settings\MaxVerifiers = 0 (DWORD)

HKLM\SOFTWARE\SolidOak\Alligate\Settings\SMTPHighPriority = 1 (DWORD)

HKLM\SOFTWARE\SolidOak\Alligate\Settings\AutoCPUThrottle = 0 (DWORD)
